Funsho Doherty Leaves ADC, Joins Nigerian Democratic Congress
Funsho Doherty Dumps ADC for NDC

Funsho Doherty, a prominent Lagos politician, has left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC). Doherty made this announcement in a statement issued on Thursday, just weeks after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ADC.

Reasons for the Defection

According to Doherty, the ADC is currently facing a development that has caused a division within the opposition coalition, with some leaders moving to the NDC and others remaining in the ADC. He expressed that he had hoped the ADC would serve as a vehicle to unite the opposition. However, since that is no longer the case, he stated that each individual must decide whether to stay with the ADC or move to the NDC.

Doherty's Statement on Joining NDC

Announcing his membership in the NDC, Doherty said he joined after due consultation, careful deliberation, and prayerful reflection. He described the NDC as the path that will enable the opposition to deliver the benefits of good governance to every citizen, without exception. “The battle ahead remains formidable, but I invite you to join us on this exciting, though sometimes turbulent, journey to a brighter future that has been long-promised and that has so far proven elusive, but that is, by the Grace of God, now imminent,” he said.
