Gwarzo picks APC form for Kano North senatorial race

Former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, has officially obtained the nomination and interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the Kano North Senatorial district primaries.

Gwarzo Joins Race Against Barau

Gwarzo, who earlier declared his intention to challenge the Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Barau I Jibrin, submitted his interest form to the state party secretariat in Kano on Wednesday. The former deputy governor and close associate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was removed as Minister of State for Housing last year and replaced by Abdullahi Ata, a nominee backed by the Deputy President of the Senate.

Nomination Form Submission

The nomination form was obtained from the party headquarters in Abuja by Hon. Abdullahi Mu’azu Baban Gandu, a member of the House of Representatives representing Gwarzo and Kabo Federal Constituency, alongside Hon. Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, a former Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area.

Presenting his interest form to the state Chairman, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, Gwarzo, popularly known as ATM, pledged to provide equitable legislative services to the people of Kano North if given the opportunity to fly the party’s flag.

Promise of Quality Representation

Gwarzo expressed concern that the senatorial district currently lacks quality and credible representation at the National Assembly. He vowed to restore the lost glory through constituency projects aimed at transforming the socio-economic well-being of the constituents. He highlighted his wealth of experience and track record in public service, having served as Commissioner of Water Resources, Deputy Governor, and Minister of Housing, assuring that his credentials are sufficient to turn around the fortune of the district.

Commitment to Renewed Hope Agenda

While seeking the party’s blessing to sustain President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in Kano, Gwarzo said he would intensify political consultations and strategic preparations ahead of the party primary. Party Chairman Hon. Doguwa stated that the APC is prepared to offer a level playing field to all aspirants to test their popularity during the primaries. He affirmed the party’s commitment to abide by the rules of the game and wished all aspirants the best opportunity to represent Kano North Senatorial district.
