Kano Gov Yusuf Warns Kwankwaso Over Attacks

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has issued a strong warning to his estranged political mentor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, regarding what he termed as repeated attacks against his person. The governor made it clear that his silence should not be misinterpreted as fear.

Governor's Address to Supporters

Governor Yusuf delivered the warning while addressing a gathering of supporters in Kano. During the event, he officially endorsed Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Kano South. The rally took place in the Rano area on Monday, May 18.

According to Daily Trust, the governor threatened to retaliate if provoked further. This marks the first time Governor Yusuf has directly confronted the leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement since both politicians left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the APC.

Governor's Statement

In his remarks, the governor stated: "For us, Kano peace is our priority, but if we are pushed to the wall, we will open our mouths and talk. Silence is not a sign of fear."

The warning underscores the growing tension between the former allies, who were once close political associates. Governor Yusuf's shift in tone signals a potential escalation in the political rivalry within Kano State.
