Kundak Rejects APC Senatorial Primary, Calls for Fresh Election in Bauchi
Kundak Rejects APC Senatorial Primary, Demands Fresh Poll

Hon. Abdulmumi Kundak, a senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi South Senatorial District, has rejected the outcome of the party's primary election, alleging that no valid exercise took place. Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Kundak called on the party's national leadership to investigate what he described as irregularities surrounding the process in Bauchi State.

Allegations of Irregularities

Kundak insisted that there was no evidence that any primary election occurred across the senatorial district. He questioned, “You are all living witnesses. Where was the election conducted? Can anybody show any ward or polling unit where the exercise took place?” He described the exercise as a “so-called primary,” alleging that due process was not followed and that the process was hijacked by certain individuals within the party.

Call for Accountability

Kundak stated that his decision to speak publicly was to draw the attention of the party leadership to what transpired in the state and ensure accountability. According to him, although some individuals had already announced a candidate for the senatorial seat, the party leadership must verify whether the process complied with established guidelines.

Disappointment and Hope

Kundak, who said he entered the race following calls from stakeholders and party members, expressed disappointment that the expected transparent process did not take place. “I was thinking there would be an elaborate and transparent process to make the primary possible, but now it has been hijacked by some people,” he said. However, he expressed optimism that the internal crisis within the party could be resolved ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as an internal matter capable of strengthening the party if properly handled.
