Ayeni explained that the decision aligns with the caucus's resolution for the governorship to return to Kwara North in the next dispensation. He noted that after engaging with all aspirants from the senatorial district, the caucus found Senator Umar to excel in terms of ability, capability, and past records of service.

They called on other aspirants from the district to support him in the interest of unity and oneness for the people of Kwara State.
