Kwara APC Confronts Saraki and PDP Over Offa Robbery Trial Allegations

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has issued a strong statement accusing the state's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki of attempting to distort the facts surrounding the ongoing legal proceedings related to the 2018 Offa bank robbery case. The party asserts that recent reactions from Saraki and a press conference held by the PDP on Friday are merely efforts to pressure public opinion and undermine the judicial process.

APC Calls for Judicial Integrity Over Media Narratives

In a statement released on Saturday and signed by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Abdulwaheed Olawale Babatunde, the party emphasized that Saraki and the PDP should not feel unsettled if they are confident in their innocence. The APC highlighted that courts operate based on evidence and facts, not dramatic statements aimed at rewriting history. The statement urged Saraki to allow the judicial process to proceed fully without resorting to media narratives, advising him to face his trial directly rather than engaging in what it described as shameful personal attacks.

Dismissal of Saraki's Denials and Defense of State Governance

The APC dismissed Saraki's denial of any connection to the convicted suspects in the Offa robbery incident, labeling his claims as laughable and deceitful. The party insisted that available testimonies and court records contradict his position, referencing statements from key individuals during investigations that allegedly implicate Saraki in providing guns and logistics. Additionally, the APC defended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's performance, contrasting it with past governance failures under Saraki's watch, and highlighted ongoing projects in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and timely salary payments as reasons for political discomfort among opponents.

Emphasis on Legal Proceedings and Political Neutrality

On the ongoing legal process, the APC maintained that no individual is above the law and stressed that public debates should not replace judicial proceedings. The party cautioned against politicizing a criminal matter, urging the PDP and Saraki to focus on clearing their names through legal means rather than public statements. Reaffirming its commitment, the APC stated it remains dedicated to governance, security, and development in Kwara State, vowing not to be distracted by what it termed political noise.
