The list, published on Thursday, September 17, 2026, by the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Media Centre, positions Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Chairman of the campaign council, while former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode are named Co-Chairmen of the advisory council.
Advisory Council Leadership and Membership
At the top of the advisory structure, Prince Tajudeen Olusi is named Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council. Governor Sanwo-Olu holds the position of Advisory Council Chairman, with Fashola and Ambode serving as Co-Chairmen. This marks a notable reunion of former and current Lagos leaders within the APC fold.
Other prominent figures in the advisory body include Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu; Mudashiru Obasa, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; and Adeleke Mamora, former Minister of Health. Their inclusion underscores the party's effort to harness experienced political hands for the upcoming electoral contest.
Campaign Council Structure and Key Appointments
Within the campaign council itself, Governor Sanwo-Olu serves as Chairman, with his deputy, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, occupying the role of Deputy Chairman. The three vice-chairman positions go to Ojelabi Cornelius (Vice Chairman I), Obasa (Vice Chairman II), and Damilola Sonayon James (Vice Chairman III), according to Vanguard.
Former Senator Musiliu Obanikoro is named Director-General of the council, with Rasaq Ajala as Deputy Director-General and Adekunle Olayinka as Campaign Secretary. An immigration lawyer testified before the Lagos election tribunal in 2023 that Hamzat had gone through the US naturalisation process.
