Thousands of members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reportedly gathered in a celebratory atmosphere to affirm the emergence of Alhaji Muhammed Abdullahi as the party’s candidate for the Kogi East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections. The exercise, which drew party faithful, stakeholders and supporters from across the senatorial district, climaxed with a final collation process witnessed by party officials and observers.
Party members present at the event said the exercise reflected broad participation and growing enthusiasm among supporters, many of whom turned out to demonstrate solidarity with the PDP’s senatorial ambition in Kogi East. Speaking after his emergence, Abdullahi expressed appreciation to party leaders, delegates and supporters for what he described as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership and vision for the district.
“I receive this responsibility with humility and gratitude. This affirmation is not about one individual but about our collective determination to build a stronger, more inclusive and prosperous Kogi East,” he said. He noted that the turnout and support recorded during the exercise underscored the commitment of the people to democratic values and collective progress.
“The overwhelming support we have received today is a clear indication that our people believe in unity, development and purposeful representation. I am deeply encouraged by the trust placed in me, and I assure everyone that I will not take it for granted,” Abdullahi stated. The PDP candidate pledged to pursue an issue-based campaign centred on development, economic opportunities, infrastructure, youth empowerment and inclusive governance across the senatorial district.
“We are embarking on this journey together. Our focus will remain on delivering effective representation and ensuring that every community across Kogi East feels the impact of responsible leadership. This is the beginning of greater things to come,” he added. He also urged party members and supporters to remain united and continue working towards strengthening the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
