Oden Ewa Wins APC Senatorial Ticket for Cross River Central

Oden Ewa, the immediate-past state Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Cross River Central senatorial district ahead of the 2027 general elections. He secured the party's ticket in the primary election held on Monday, May 18, 2026.

Primary Election Results

The returning officer, Eyo NSA Ekpo, announced the results after the collation exercise at the Ikom Local Government Area Council Hall. Ewa garnered 32,426 votes, while his closest rival, Mary Ekpere, received 991 votes, and Eteng Jones obtained 726 votes.

Ewa's Reaction

Ewa expressed gratitude to APC leaders, delegates, members, and his supporters, describing the victory as a testament to his hard work and contributions to the development of his district, state, and people over the years. He commended Governor Bassey Otu for providing a level playing field and a conducive environment for the primary election. Ewa also thanked the governor for granting him the opportunity to serve and contest as a first-time candidate.

The former commissioner emphasized that his victory is a collective achievement. He urged all party members to close ranks and work together to ensure success in the 2027 general elections. He stated, "My victory is a victory for everyone, a collective victory and not an individual. It is a call for all of us to close ranks and work together in ensuring that this resounding success is recorded at the 2027 general elections because the task of keeping our party, APC, the district, and in power is a greater task that we must all work together to achieve."

Other APC Primary Winners

In related developments, former Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero won the APC senatorial ticket for Kaduna North. Similarly, former Governor Yahaya Bello secured the APC ticket for Kogi Central Senatorial District with 72,349 votes, defeating his closest rival Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke, who received 315 votes. These results were announced on the same day, May 18, 2026.
