Three incumbent members of the House of Representatives representing federal constituencies in Ogun State have lost their bids to return to the National Assembly in 2027. The results of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries were officially declared on Sunday by the Chairman of the State Primaries Committee, Comrade Phillips Shuaibu.
Losers and Winners
Those who lost out in the primaries are Hon. Isiaq Akinlade, Hon. Tunji Akinosi, and Hon. Adesola Elegbeji. Meanwhile, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, Hon. Joseph Adegbesan, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, and Hon. Olumide Osoba secured victory, earning the party’s tickets for the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Rasheed Kashamu, son of the late Buruji Kashamu, was defeated after securing 265 votes, while Hon. Joseph Adegbesan emerged victorious with 18,884 votes to clinch the party’s ticket for the Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency.
Consensus and Affirmation
While announcing the results at the All Progressives Congress Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, Comrade Shuaibu disclosed that Hon. Olumide Osoba emerged as the consensus candidate for the Odeda/Obafemi Owode/Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, securing 45,907 affirmation votes.
In the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency race, Hon. Afolabi Afuape led with 12,633 votes, followed by Tolupe Phillips with 760 votes. Akeem Ademolake received 270 votes, Engr. Abolore Ayodeji polled 215 votes, while Hon. Lanre Edun garnered 12 votes.
Remo North and Other Constituencies
In Remo North, the Ogun State Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon. Funmilayo Efuwape, emerged victorious over three other aspirants after securing 22,452 votes. Hon. Adesola Elegbeji received 16 votes, Ayemeke garnered 6 votes, while Kolade Adeogun polled 101 votes.
In Ado Odo/Ota, Hon. Olarenwaju Basorun, who also emerged as the consensus candidate, secured victory with 17,740 yes votes. While in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency, Hon. Rasaq Dada led the poll with 17,459 votes, while Adetomiwa Adetilewa garnered 891 votes and Adeola Azeez secured 532 votes.
In the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Adijat Adeleye, was returned through affirmation with a total of 25,167 votes. For Yewa North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka secured 15,900 votes.
In Yewa South/Ipokia, the Chief of Staff to the Ogun State Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo, received 31,256 votes. Akintomiwa Gbenga and Femi Adebayo each polled 21 votes, while Hon. Isiaq Akinlade secured 28 votes.
