The newly elected Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Tijani Habeeblahi Adekunle, has declared support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for the 2027 Ogun State election.
Adekunle's Emergence and Endorsement
Adekunle, a former Students' Union Government (SUG) President of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), emerged chairman at the weekend convention of the association. The convention was conducted by an Independent Convention Planning Committee chaired by Damilola Kehinde Simeon.
In his maiden statement on Sunday, Adekunle commended Governor Dapo Abiodun and APC leaders for the emergence of Adeola as the party's governorship aspirant. He described it as a step that aligns with the interests of students in the state.
Recognition of Adeola's Contributions
Adekunle highlighted Adeola's record as a senator, particularly through bursary and scholarship interventions. He stated that these efforts reflect consistent engagement with education and youth development. According to him, the education sector requires sustained investment and policies that prioritise student welfare. He expressed confidence that Adeola understands the challenges confronting tertiary institutions in Ogun State.
Adekunle added that the senator's legislative experience and constituency outreach positioned him to strengthen support for students if elected governor.
Mobilization and Commitment
He pledged to mobilise students across campuses in Ogun State in support of the APC candidate ahead of the 2027 election. He assured that his leadership would prioritise engagement with stakeholders to ensure student interests remain central in political discourse.
“Our administration will promote unity across campuses and constructive engagement with government, while ensuring accountability on commitments made to students,” Adekunle said.
