The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has officially selected Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections. The announcement was made in Abeokuta by the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Adeniyi Adams, who declared Ogundipe, widely known as BCO, the winner after securing the highest number of votes in the primary election.
Primary Election Results
According to the official results, Dr. Biodun Collins Ogundipe garnered 9,370 votes, while Otunba Jimi Lawal (JAL) received 6,812 votes, and Mrs. Marie Odusina obtained 2,349 votes. The declaration was witnessed by electoral committee members, representatives of security agencies including the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, media personnel, party leaders, and loyal party members from across the state.
Ogundipe's Call for Unity
Addressing journalists shortly after his victory, Dr. Ogundipe expressed deep gratitude to all party members for their support, dedication, and confidence in his candidacy. He emphasized that the primary election is now concluded and it is time for all party members to unite with a common goal of winning the upcoming governorship election in Ogun State.
Ogundipe extended an olive branch to other aspirants, urging them and their supporters to view the campaign as a collective vision for the progress and development of Ogun State. He stated, “We are one family in ADC. This is the time for unity, reconciliation, and collective commitment to victory. I call on all aspirants and members of our great party to join hands together so we can win the forthcoming election and deliver good governance to the people of Ogun State.”
The primary election was conducted peacefully, with party members demonstrating their commitment to democratic processes. Ogundipe's victory marks a significant step for the ADC as it prepares for the 2027 gubernatorial race in Ogun State.
