The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has zoned the House of Representatives ticket for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency to Ode-Aye, leading to the emergence of Dr. Olumuyiwa Olusoji Daramola as the consensus candidate.
Daramola, an epidemiologist, was chosen during a stakeholders' meeting held on Tuesday in Akure, the state capital. Party leaders agreed to zone the ticket to Ode-Aye, a decision they believe will foster inclusiveness and strengthen internal cohesion within the party and across the constituency.
Stakeholders present at the meeting expressed confidence that the move would attract massive support throughout the constituency, promoting unity and a sense of belonging among party members.
Reacting to his emergence, Daramola described the outcome as a demonstration of true leadership and respect for established party structures. He noted that zoning has always been a guiding principle in the party's internal democratic processes.
Daramola expressed gratitude to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his leadership and commitment to party unity, as well as to other party leaders across the constituency. He vowed to deliver purposeful representation anchored on accountability, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.
If elected, Daramola pledged to prioritize legislation and projects that directly impact the lives of his constituents. "I am deeply honoured by the confidence reposed in me by the leadership of our great party and the good people of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency. I remain committed to serving with integrity, dedication, and a clear focus on the needs of our people," he stated.
Daramola further assured party members and supporters of his commitment to upholding the core values of the APC while working with stakeholders to ensure the development of the constituency.
According to stakeholders at the meeting, Daramola is a grassroots politician known for his consistent engagement with constituents and philanthropic interventions through his foundation. His initiatives in healthcare support, community development, and youth empowerment have earned him recognition as a committed advocate for the welfare of the people.
Daramola previously contested the APC primary in 2022 against the incumbent member of the House of Representatives.
