Oyo 2027: Aborisade Urges ADC Aspirants to Shun Division

Governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Barrister Chief Niyi Aborisade, has called on party aspirants and members to embrace peace, unity and mutual respect ahead of the party’s primary elections. The party is set to hold its primaries next Saturday.

Aborisade, who has intensified consultations and grassroots engagements across the state ahead of the 2027 governorship race, warned against actions capable of creating division, bitterness or unnecessary tension within the party. The governorship hopeful particularly appealed to aspirants contesting House of Representatives and House of Assembly seats under the ADC platform to conduct themselves responsibly throughout the primary process.

According to him, while individuals may pursue different political ambitions, the collective interest and future of the party should remain paramount. He stressed that disagreements arising from internal contests should not be allowed to degenerate into personal attacks or conflicts capable of weakening the structure of the party ahead of the general election.

“Leadership begins with understanding and sacrifice. We are all pursuing a common vision through different ambitions. The primaries should unite us and not divide us. We must approach the process with love, maturity and brotherhood,” Aborisade said.

The governorship aspirant noted that one of the recurring challenges confronting political parties in Nigeria is the inability to effectively manage internal competitions, adding that unresolved disputes often leave lasting divisions that later affect electoral performance. He stated that the ADC has a unique opportunity to distinguish itself as a disciplined and inclusive political platform built on democratic values and internal cohesion.
