The immediate past Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State following a primary election held on Tuesday. Pantami was selected through voice affirmation during the exercise, where he was declared the sole aspirant by the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Hon. Gregory Yenlong. The process took place in Gombe, where party stakeholders formally endorsed him as the flagbearer ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Acceptance Speech Emphasizes Service
In his acceptance remarks, Pantami stated that his decision to contest was driven by a desire to serve the people of the state. He pledged to govern with fairness and justice if elected. He said, “I contested for the seat to offer service to the people of the state,” promising that his administration would prioritise equity and good governance.
The former minister's emergence is seen as a significant development in Gombe State politics, as he brings extensive experience from his tenure at the federal level. Pantami's candidacy is expected to galvanize support from various segments of the party ahead of the general elections.
