Chief Kefas Wungak Ropshik has officially obtained the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship nomination forms to contest the 2027 Plateau State governorship election. He has vowed to redirect the state toward productivity, enterprise, and inclusive development.
Ropshik, a native of Garram village in Kanke Local Government Area, stated that his decision came after deep reflection, prayers, and extensive consultations with stakeholders across Plateau. He emphasized that his aspiration is rooted in the belief that the state can achieve more by embracing a production-oriented economy rather than dependency.
“After deep reflection, prayers, and sincere conversations, I have made the bold but humble decision to offer myself to serve as Governor of Plateau State—not because of position, not because of ambition, but because I truly believe our state can become much more, and our people deserve much more,” he said.
Ropshik noted that his interactions across communities exposed him to the challenges faced by citizens, especially youths, women, and families struggling for economic opportunities. “I have listened to the hopes of our youths, witnessed the resilience of our women, and felt the daily struggles of families who work hard yet long for greater opportunities,” he added.
His vision for Plateau focuses on key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, technology, business, and industry as engines of growth. He stressed the need for a deliberate shift toward productivity, innovation, and job creation to unlock the state’s economic potential. “I believe Plateau must move beyond dependence and step boldly into an era of enterprise, innovation, productivity, and opportunity,” he said.
Ropshik described himself as a “servant-leader” committed to laying a stronger foundation for future generations, adding that his ambition is rooted in service rather than personal gain. “My name is Kefas, the rock, and I believe God has prepared me to help lay a stronger foundation for generations to come,” he declared.
He appealed to party members and residents of Plateau for support, prayers, and trust as he embarks on his political journey.
