PDP releases Senate, Reps candidates in Oyo for 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has officially released the list of its candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections. The announcement was made in a statement by the party's State Organising Secretary, Mr. Stephen Olaniyi, in Ibadan on Friday.

Senatorial Candidates

For the Oyo South Senatorial District, the party selected Sarumi Aliyu Bolanle. In Oyo Central, Gbadegeshin Victoria Omolara emerged as the candidate, while Abdullahi Khadijah Iyabode was chosen for Oyo North Senatorial District. The candidates emerged through competitive primaries conducted across the three senatorial districts of the state.

House of Representatives Candidates

The PDP also unveiled 14 candidates for the House of Representatives seats in Oyo State. They include Mr. Samson Fatola for Ibadan South-West/Ibadan North-West, Mr. Idris Olanrewaju for Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba/Afijio, and Mr. Olusegun Akinloye for Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere. Others are Mrs. Elizabeth Alao for Ido/Ibarapa East, Mr. Rasaki Haruna for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North, and Mr. Rotimi Ajumobi for Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola.

Additionally, Mr. Adedotun Adebayo will contest in Oluyole, Mr. Olusoji Olusegun in Ibadan North, and Mr. Solomon Odeyemi in Egbeda/Ona-Ara. The list also includes Mrs. Victoria Akinyemi for Akinyele/Lagelu, Mr. Abdul-Lateef Adeniran for Irepo/Olorunsogo/Orelope, and Mrs. Ramota Azeez for Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West. Dr. (Mrs.) Adejoke Adekanmi Akinseye will represent Ibadan South-East/Ibadan North-East, and Mrs. Ajoke Okanlawon will contest in Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire.

Party Confidence and Call for Unity

The party expressed confidence in the candidates' capacity to deliver victory at the polls and called on all members across the state to close ranks and support the standard-bearers to ensure electoral success. The emergence of the candidates signals a new phase of mobilisation ahead of the general elections.
