Governor Peter Mbah has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election in Enugu State after securing victory in the party’s primary election.
Mbah, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC, was returned as the party’s sole candidate following the conclusion of the primary exercise conducted across the state.
The governor was formally declared winner after the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee concluded collation of results at the International Conference Centre in Enugu on Friday.
Speaking after his emergence, Mbah expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to sustain developmental projects and governance initiatives across the state.
He described the nomination as a major responsibility and assured supporters that his administration would continue to prioritise infrastructure, economic growth and improved public services.
The APC primary comes months after Mbah’s defection to the ruling party, a political move widely seen as reshaping the balance of power in Enugu politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
