The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has officially cleared former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. This development follows the completion of a review of the recently concluded party primaries by the Primaries Appeal Committee, whose report was subsequently approved by the NWC.
According to a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja by the party's National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, the NWC also upheld the outcomes of four other elections, including those for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and state Houses of Assembly. Mr. Ishaq confirmed that all candidates have been cleared to contest in the 2027 general elections, with the exception of the Tarauni Federal Constituency of Kano, where the primary election has been nullified.
He further disclosed that the party will field a total of 420 candidates across all elective positions in the upcoming elections. “In line with our commitment to active participation in the electoral process, the PRP is proud to field a total of 420 candidates across all positions in the 2027 general elections,” Mr. Ishaq stated.
The party spokesperson reiterated PRP's dedication to the principles of internal democracy and service, emphasizing the party's goal of delivering credible and transformative leadership for Nigeria.
