The Remi Tinubu Support Organisation (RETSO) has inaugurated its Lagos State ambassadors and new state leadership council. The group has also endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat for the 2027 governorship election.
Inauguration Event
The inauguration, held on Tuesday at Eko FM Marquees Event Hall in Agidingbi, Ikeja, drew party loyalists, community leaders, youth groups, entertainers and other political stakeholders. RETSO's Director-General, Yusi Buba, said the event marked a major step in strengthening the organisation's grassroots structure in Lagos.
He explained that the newly appointed ambassadors and executives would be responsible for expanding the group's presence across the state's local councils, deepening community engagement and promoting civic awareness among residents. According to him, the success of any political movement depends largely on its connection with the grassroots.
"This inauguration is a defining moment for RETSO in Lagos. Our strength will always come from the people, from the communities and from our ability to remain connected to them," he said.
Endorsement of Tinubu
The organisation said its endorsement of Tinubu for re-election in 2027 reflected its confidence in his leadership and ongoing reforms. RETSO's South-West coordinator, Adegoke Iyiade, said the organisation remained committed to the President's Renewed Hope agenda. He described some of the administration's major policies, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange reforms and infrastructure development, as difficult but necessary measures aimed at repositioning the economy.
"President Tinubu governs for posterity, not applause. These are tough decisions, but they are necessary. Lagos will lead and RETSO will deliver," he said.
Support for Hamzat
On its endorsement of Hamzat as its preferred candidate for the Lagos governorship election, the organisation said the deputy governor's record in public service, technical experience and knowledge of Lagos made him suitable for the state's top job. Iyiade said Hamzat had served with dedication and integrity and had demonstrated a strong understanding of governance and development issues in the state.
"Hamzat knows Lagos, delivers results and genuinely loves the people. He is the right leader for this moment," he said. He urged the newly inaugurated ambassadors to see themselves as frontline representatives of the organisation and to carry out their duties with discipline, loyalty and commitment.
Notable Attendees
Erelu Abiola Dosunmu, the Erelu Kuti IV of Lagos and Yeye Oodua of the Source, also commended Tinubu's economic reforms. She described the President as a courageous leader, saying his decision to remove fuel subsidy had reduced economic wastage while laying a foundation for greater national stability and development.
Nollywood actor, Saidi Balogun, who serves as RETSO's director of entertainment and media, led supporters in a voice vote reaffirming the endorsements of Tinubu and Hamzat.
