Sapele APC Ward Suspends Paul Oyiborume Over Anti-Party Activities and Disruptive Conduct
The Ward 1 leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sapele Local Government Area, Delta State, has announced the indefinite suspension of a member, Paul Oyiborume, over allegations of anti-party activities and disruptive conduct. This decisive action follows an emergency executive committee meeting held on Sunday, prompted by what the ward described as a "very disturbing petition" concerning the member.
Grounds for Suspension
Party officials stated that the move became necessary after deliberations on issues related to internal discipline, adherence to party guidelines, and actions deemed capable of bringing the party into disrepute. The ward executives cited multiple allegations against Oyiborume, including:
- Prolonged inactivity in party affairs.
- Opposition to zoning arrangements ahead of the national convention.
- Alleged disruption of a key party meeting in Abuja.
- Bypassing internal mechanisms to address grievances and resorting to media publications damaging to the party's image.
Official Statement and Accusations
In a press statement signed by key party figures, including Chairman Ward 1 Eriekefe Obosiewe, Councillor Don Bajere, and Ward Secretary Ezealaji Ebuka, they accused Oyiborume of violating party guidelines regarding the zoning of national party offices for the forthcoming national convention. The statement detailed specific incidents, such as:
"He violently attempted to disrupt a meeting of the National Convention Central Coordinating Committee on March 16, 2026, at Malam Aminu Kano House, 41 T.Y. Danjuma Street, Asokoro, Abuja."
Furthermore, it noted that without submitting grievances to the party's internal conflict resolution mechanisms, Oyiborume hastily resorted to the media to make "untrue, sensational, and unnecessary publications" capable of embarrassing the party and its leadership.
Executive Committee Decision
After careful deliberation, the Ward One executive committee, acting on powers conferred by Articles 13, 5, 6, and 65 of the party's constitution, resolved to suspend Mr. Paul Okparayovwe Oyiborume indefinitely from all party activities. This suspension is effective immediately and will remain in place until the conclusion of an investigation into the allegations contained in the petition.
The statement emphasized that this measure aims to uphold party discipline and integrity, ensuring that members adhere to established protocols and avoid actions that could harm the APC's reputation. The suspension underscores the party's commitment to maintaining order and addressing internal conflicts through proper channels, rather than public disputes.
