SDP Aspirant Duba Ishaya Dodo Resigns from Party

Duba Ishaya Dodo, a senatorial aspirant of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Nasarawa State, has resigned his membership from the party, citing a growing disconnect with its current direction and internal operations.

Dodo, who hails from Gudi Ward in Akwanga Local Government Area, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter dated April 21, 2026, addressed to the Ward Chairman of the party. In the letter, he said his decision followed careful reflection, observation, and consultations over recent developments within the party, noting that continued membership would no longer serve his political aspirations and representation goals.

He acknowledged his contributions to the growth of the party at various levels but stated that the party's present structure and approach differ significantly from the ideals that initially motivated him to join. The former aspirant subsequently requested that his name be removed from the party's membership register and all associated records with immediate effect.

Dodo expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve within the party and wished the SDP success in its future political activities. A rising political figure from Nasarawa State, Dodo—an architect and philanthropist—has also announced his intention to contest the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat in 2027, positioning himself for a broader political role in the state.

Meanwhile, he disclosed that he is set to unveil a new political platform in the coming days, signaling what observers describe as a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections. His resignation underscores ongoing shifts within party structures at the grassroots level in Nasarawa State, as political actors continue to reassess their affiliations and political trajectories.
