SDP Confirms Adebayo as Presidential Candidate to INEC

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has formally communicated the name of its presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the 2027 general election. This was disclosed in a letter addressed to the electoral body following the party's national convention and presidential primary held in Bauchi.

Official Submission to INEC

In the correspondence signed by the party's National Secretary, Dr. Olu Agunloye, the SDP officially forwarded the details of its elected presidential flag bearer for the upcoming 2027 presidential election. The letter, titled “Submission of the Name and Other Details of SDP Presidential Candidate,” informed INEC that “the presidential candidate nominated by the Social Democratic Party for sponsorship in the 2027 presidential election is Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo.”

Peaceful Convention in Bauchi

The party emphasized that the convention and direct primary election were conducted peacefully and successfully at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi. Adebayo emerged as the sole aspirant and secured the overwhelming support of delegates and party members. The SDP also confirmed that Adebayo would contest for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the party's platform.

Request for Nomination Documents

The correspondence further requested the commission to provide the necessary nomination documents, including Forms EC9, EC9A, EC9B, EC9C, EC9D, and EC9E, to formally complete the candidate nomination process. Adebayo, who was the SDP presidential candidate in the 2023 election, was returned unopposed at the party's convention in Bauchi after emerging as the sole aspirant for the ticket.
