The Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Campaign Council, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has expressed strong confidence in Governor Biodun Oyebanji's re-election prospects, citing his excellent performance over the past three and a half years. Bamidele stated that the governor's programs and policies have significantly impacted the lives of Ekiti residents, and the party is determined to reward him with an overwhelming vote of appreciation.
Speaking during Governor Oyebanji's campaign tour of Ijero, Efon Alaaye, and Aramoko, Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central in the Senate, appreciated the people's support for Oyebanji and the APC. He called for another term to consolidate the good governance in the state. “Governor Oyebanji’s first term was favorable to Ekiti because the state has witnessed transformation in all areas. Also, Ekiti has enjoyed peace under his administration, there is unity of purpose and development under him,” Bamidele said. “It is not a question of winning the election but with a wide margin. Let us cast our votes massively for APC and Governor Oyebanji for this good work to continue and for our state to keep moving forward.”
APC Chieftain Highlights Historical Significance
In a related development, APC chieftain Mr. Abiodun Borisade noted that 133 years after the Kiriji War, God is using Oyebanji to unite Ekiti's voice and political direction. He remarked that the last time Ekiti spoke with one voice was during the Kiriji War (1877–1893), when the Ekiti Parapo was formed. “Biodun Oyebanji, through divine intervention, will claim a spot in the political history of Ekitikete, having galvanized the entire political space to ensure his return to office for a second term. The journey was at times turbulent, but the ship stayed steady on course, while more well-wishers joined the sail. Today, at Ijero Local Government BAO Campaign Tour, I join the multitude of our party faithfuls to witness and support the unstoppable campaign train to ensure a peaceful victory for the governor,” Borisade said.
Governor Oyebanji Targets 500,000 Votes
Governor Oyebanji expressed confidence in a landslide victory in the June 20 governorship election, citing his performance in health, education, infrastructure, agriculture, human capital development, workers' salaries, and pensioners' welfare. He urged APC members to target eligible voters, especially non-party members with voter cards, and convince them to vote for the party. “As a party, we have set a target for ourselves, a minimum of 500,000 votes. All of us must go home to our units and wards and identify every registered voter, especially those who are not members of our party but have voter cards. If performance is the yardstick, we have nothing to fear because of what we have done. The votes must be massive. On June 21, when the result is declared, I want the President to hear the quantum of votes and his mind will be at rest. In Ekiti, we are going to speak with our votes. On election days, take at least five persons along with you to the polling booth and vote for APC,” Oyebanji stated.
The governor's campaign continues to gain momentum as party faithfuls rally support across the state.
