Sharada Joins Kano Central Senatorial Race Under APC

Former Special Adviser on Broadcast to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mal. Sha'aban Ibrahim Sharada, has officially entered the race for the Kano Central Senatorial District under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Sharada picked up the nomination form on Thursday, positioning himself as a key contender in the upcoming primaries.

Sharada Declares Interest Amid Massive Support

Accompanied by a large crowd of supporters, Sharada addressed the party leadership at the APC state secretariat in Kano, declaring his intention to represent the people of Kano Central at the National Assembly. He becomes the fifth APC aspirant to submit an interest form for the senatorial ticket.

Experience and Credentials Highlighted

The former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence presented his interest form to APC Chairman Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa. Sharada emphasized that he possesses the best credentials among all aspirants, citing his previous tenure representing the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He assured the party of credible and effective representation if given the mandate.

“We have strong conviction that we can do this and that is why we are here to say we are ready to take over Kano Central Senatorial District,” Sharada stated.

Promises of Development and Fair Primaries

Sharada pledged to bring more development to the district and Kano State at large, urging the party leadership to ensure justice and a level playing field during the primaries. He highlighted his track record in public office, noting that his achievements as a federal lawmaker speak for themselves. “I have done it as a federal lawmaker. You all have seen how far I have gone while I was a lawmaker and the kind of achievements I brought to our people,” he said. “If I am given this chance, I assure you that we will uplift not only the district but the state in general. I am appealing to you to give me this opportunity, and you will not regret it,” he added.

APC Chairman Assures Fairness

Responding, the Kano State APC Chairman, Umar Haruna Doguwa, assured Sharada of a level playing field in the party's selection process. Doguwa affirmed that the party leadership would ensure fairness to all aspirants seeking elective positions. “I can attest to the capacity of Sha'aban Ibrahim Sharada, looking at an experience I had with him in the past. We will play a level playing ground; we shall give everybody an opportunity,” Doguwa said.
