President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reminded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and the Gombe State All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Dr Jamyl Isyaku Gwamna, that only unity, continuity in governance, and consolidation of ongoing economic reforms will guarantee the peace and prosperity of the state.
Closed-Door Meeting at Presidential Villa
Both Governor Yahaya and Gwamna held a closed-door meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, as part of consultations aimed at advancing the vision of a more prosperous and economically vibrant Gombe State.
In a statement, the media aide to the APC gubernatorial contender, Gwamna, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, said the meeting focused on how to sustain the continued development of Gombe State as well as the sustenance of the gains recorded by the outgoing administration of Governor Yahaya.
Formal Presentation of Flagbearer
“Following the engagement, Governor Inuwa Yahaya used the opportunity to formally present Dr Gwamna to Mr. President as the APC governorship flagbearer for Gombe State. The discussions formed part of ongoing high-level consultations aimed at ensuring continuity in governance, consolidating ongoing reforms, and advancing the vision of a more prosperous and economically vibrant Gombe State,” the statement noted.
“The historic presentation represents not only a significant milestone, but also a strong signal of unity, continuity, and a shared commitment to the sustainable development of Gombe State under the Renewed Hope Agenda of APC,” the statement added.
Smoothening Party Affairs
The Guardian reports that the meeting provided President Tinubu the opportunity to smoothen affairs within Gombe State APC and serves as a demonstration of the party’s commitment at both national and state levels to refocusing politics and the developmental momentum already achieved, ensuring a seamless transition.
Yahaya’s Record and Gwamna’s Pledge
In his two terms in office, Governor Yahaya earned widespread recognition for his administration’s significant investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, youth empowerment, security, and public sector reforms.
For his part, the former Managing Director of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), Dr Gwamna, has consistently pledged to build upon the achievements of the Inuwa Yahaya administration, deepen ongoing reforms, and expand opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and social development across the state.
