Bauchi 2027: Tuggar Aligns with APC Decision on Consensus or Primaries
Tuggar Aligns with APC on Consensus or Primaries

Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar has reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating he will abide by the party's decision on whether to adopt a consensus candidate or hold primaries for the 2027 Bauchi governorship election. Speaking to journalists in Bauchi on Tuesday, a day after officially declaring his gubernatorial ambition, Tuggar emphasized his commitment to the party's internal processes.

Tuggar's Stance on Party Decision

When asked about the possibility of a consensus arrangement or a direct primary, Tuggar said: "I am a party man. I have always been so. There is no way I participated in party primaries or vying for a position or party ticket, and I ended up going to court or working against the final outcome." He noted that former chairmen of the APC, ANPP, and CPC who were present could attest to his loyalty to any party he has joined.

Focus on Agro-Business and Industrialization

Tuggar, who resigned his ministerial position in March to contest the governorship, said his major focus would be to revolutionize the state's agro-businesses and industrialize the sector's components. He stressed the need to transform agriculture into a thriving industry that creates jobs and boosts the economy.

Adamawa APC Urged to Conduct Credible Primaries

In related news, the ruling APC in Adamawa State has been called upon to conduct a credible and transparent governorship primary to ensure that a candidate who carries everyone along emerges to fly the party's flag in next year's general elections. Abdulrazak Namdas, who declared his intention to contest the governorship, is joined by two other contenders: Felix Tangwami and Ahmed Tijjani Galadima. Tangwami and Galadima are believed to be the preferred aspirants of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, respectively.

Namdas Pledges Inclusive Leadership

Namdas explained that he was motivated by Governor Fintiri's inclusive leadership style and his promise to hand over power to a grassroots politician. He believes the governor is the best among all aspirants. Namdas pledged that, if elected, his administration would prioritize rural development, qualitative education, and healthcare. He called on supporters to campaign for Governor Fintiri as he finishes strong in running a free and fair election in Adamawa State.

Namdas spoke with journalists in Yola, urging the party to ensure a primary that unites the APC family ahead of the main election.
