The Yobe state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a fake list of consensus candidates for various elective positions in the forthcoming 2027 general elections. The party described the purported list as misleading and concocted, specifically targeting the 24-member Yobe State House of Assembly elections.
The alarm was raised on Friday in a statement released in Damaturu, signed by the APC Press Secretary to the Chairman, Hajiya Sa’adatu Maina. “I am calling on all party members to completely disregard the unauthorized publication of the fake list of consensus candidates for the 24 seats at the State House of Assembly,” she said.
The press secretary reassured APC stakeholders that the so-called consensus list circulating in some quarters is baseless and did not originate from the party secretariat in the state. According to party officials, this unfortunate development is the handiwork of mischief makers aiming to cause confusion among aspirants and party supporters across the 24 state constituencies.
The party also clarified that discussions on consensus building are still ongoing in a peaceful and inclusive manner. “In case these consultations fail to produce an agreeable outcome, all aspirants will proceed to a free, fair, and transparent primary election,” the statement added.
The APC urged its supporters to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant against disinformation, assuring that the final list of candidates will be announced through official channels at the appropriate time.
