2027: Yobe APC disowns fake list of consensus candidates
Yobe APC disowns fake consensus candidates list

The Yobe state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a fake list of consensus candidates for various elective positions in the forthcoming 2027 general elections in Nigeria.

According to the party, the purported list of candidates is misleading and concocted for the 24-member State House of Assembly elections. The alarm was raised on Friday in a statement released in Damaturu and signed by the APC Press Secretary to the Chairman, Hajiya Sa’adatu Maina.

“I am calling on all party members to completely disregard the unauthorized publication of the fake list of consensus candidates for the 24 seats at the State House of Assembly,” she said.

The press secretary reassured APC stakeholders that the so-called consensus list of candidates circulating in some quarters is baseless and did not emanate from the party secretariat in the state. The unfortunate political development, according to some party officials, is the calculated handiwork of mischief makers to cause confusion among aspirants and party supporters from the 24 state constituencies.

The party also clarified that discussions on consensus building across the state are still ongoing in a peaceful and inclusive manner. “In case these consultations fail to produce an agreeable outcome, all aspirants will proceed to a free, fair, and transparent primary election,” the statement added.

The APC urged its teeming supporters to remain calm, law abiding, and vigilant against disinformation, assuring that the final list of candidates will be announced through official channels at the appropriate time.
