Akpabio: I Cry Over Plateau Killings, Tinubu Pledges Peace

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has made an emotional revelation about his constant distress over the persistent violence in Plateau State, stating that he often cries when hearing reports of killings across Nigeria.

Emotional Appeal for Peace in Plateau

During a significant political gathering at Jos Polo Field, Akpabio addressed supporters of the All Progressives Congress where new members were formally welcomed into the party. The Senate President emphasized that the government bears primary responsibility for restoring stability in Plateau State and throughout the nation.

Akpabio, representing President Bola Tinubu at the event, assured residents that their security concerns would not be ignored. He stressed that peace must originate from within communities rather than being imposed by external forces.

Deep-Rooted Security Challenges

The Senate President acknowledged that the security problems plaguing Plateau State have deep historical roots. He revealed that assessment reports used to understand the crisis date back many years and reflect long-standing grievances that have festered over time.

"I cry whenever I hear the killing of a human being, whether a child or an adult," Akpabio emotionally confessed to the gathered crowd. He expressed profound sorrow over the repeated loss of lives that has become all too common in the region.

Tinubu's Commitment to Resolution

Akpabio delivered a strong assurance from the presidency, stating that President Bola Tinubu remains fully committed to addressing the recurring violence that has troubled Plateau State. He emphasized that both the President and the government share the distress felt by affected communities.

"This problem we are having now did not start today; so many people have died in Plateau. Nigeria is crying out. A lot of blood has been shed, and we are not happy. The President of Nigeria is equally not happy," Akpabio stated with evident concern.

The Senate President highlighted that the violence witnessed since 2010 has continued to take a severe toll on communities across the state. He vowed that renewed efforts to restore peace and stability would be strengthened through coordinated government action.

Akpabio called on residents to support President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, emphasizing that progress in the state depends on achieving lasting peace. He urged political leaders in the Middle Belt region to prioritize peace-centered governance as essential for development and stability.
