President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Aminu Bello Masari, a former governor of Katsina State, as deputy director general for parliamentarian mobilisation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign council. The appointment was officially confirmed on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the next general elections.
APC Formalises 2027 Campaign Structure
The 223-member campaign council, as reported by Premium Times, is designed to serve as the central coordinating body for President Tinubu's re-election effort. Its remit covers political mobilisation, administration, stakeholder engagement, and the organisation of campaign activities across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Masari, 76, brings extensive political experience to the role. Beyond serving as governor of Katsina State, he is also a one-time speaker of the House of Representatives, making him a seasoned figure in Nigeria's legislative and executive spheres.
Masari's Role in Parliamentarian Mobilisation
As deputy director general for parliamentarian mobilisation, Masari will assist in coordinating the marshalling structure and may be assigned specific regions, groups of lawmakers, or convening activities. The parliamentarian mobilisation role is central to the campaign's objective of getting legislators to support the APC presidential candidate and leverage their political networks to mobilise voters for the president.

Earlier, President Tinubu also named Ade Omole as deputy director for diaspora mobilisation I of the APC presidential campaign council. Omole is an ICT executive, legal professional, and public affairs strategist, widely recognised as the 'Face of the Nigerian Diaspora' and chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Voting Council (NDVC).
The APC's early and structured approach to campaign preparations positions it as a frontrunner in organisational readiness, with the 223-member council expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the party's electoral fortunes in 2027.
