Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has made a definitive declaration about his political philosophy, stating that his primary objective is to establish enduring legacies for the state rather than founding a family dynasty. The Governor made this assertion during a special meeting with stakeholders and thought leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin on Monday evening.
Data-Driven Presentation Showcases Unprecedented Achievements
The gathering witnessed a comprehensive, data-rich presentation by cabinet members, who detailed the administration's performance across key sectors since 2019. The presentations left party leaders visibly impressed with the scale of documented progress.
The Commissioner for Works, Abdulquawy Olododo, presented staggering figures on road construction. He revealed that the AbdulRazaq administration has completed 302.4 kilometres of roads, with another 275.25km ongoing—including a 209.7km project under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). Furthermore, a 294km road project is being facilitated through a tax credit scheme.
Olododo stated that this brings the total road projects under the current government to 871.65 kilometres. He contrasted this with the combined output of the three previous administrations from 1999 to 2019, which delivered 651.2km of roads, including the 120km Chickanda Road funded by the Federal Government during Senator Bukola Saraki's tenure. "When you juxtapose these records, it is clear that His Excellency AbdulRazaq has surpassed that record today," Olododo affirmed.
Record Growth in Revenue and Welfare
The Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuhu, highlighted remarkable fiscal achievements. She reported that the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has grown from N30.6 billion in 2019 to N87.1 billion as of December 19, 2025, representing an increase of over 100% in six years.
Dr. Nuhu also outlined significant welfare advancements, including the implementation of two minimum wage structures and the payment of more counterpart funds than any previous administration. She confirmed that the government has cleared all inherited salary and pension arrears, consistently paid 100% of the CONMESS and CONHESS salary structures, and recently approved a new 27.5% Teachers Specific Allowance (TSA).
In the education sector, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, detailed the hiring of 8,912 teachers and the construction of more than 2,000 classrooms. The administration has also addressed promotion arrears for teachers dating back to 2016.
Stakeholders Laud Performance, Urge Sustained Focus
Prominent dignitaries at the event unanimously praised the Governor's achievements. Senator Salihu Mustapha (Kwara Central) described the developments as "unprecedented" and "phenomenal," urging Kwarans to celebrate the visible progress. "From today, I am one of those who will carry the flag out there and say come to Kwara and see what the Governor has done," he declared.
The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, commended the Governor's performance, calling for constructive criticism. "Believe me, if you bring a blind man to Kwara State, he would know and appreciate that developments are taking place," Fagbemi stated.
The Director General of the Nigeria Orientation Agency (NOA), Alhaji Issa Lanre Onilu, admitted that the presentations exceeded his prior estimation of the administration's work. He urged the Governor's communication team to focus on showcasing these tangible projects rather than engaging in political distractions.
Governor AbdulRazaq, in his closing address, reiterated his core mission: "I am just interested in building a legacy of leaving this state far more than I met it, a legacy of a state that is viable. I am not interested in building a dynasty, and I urge that we work together for a greater state." He also discussed security challenges, reaffirming the government's commitment to protecting citizens from kidnappers and terrorists, and acknowledged the supportive economic policies of President Bola Tinubu.
