Gov Bala Mohammed: President Tinubu Surrounded by Hooligans, Wike a 'Big Drag'
Bala Mohammed: Tinubu Surrounded by Hooligans, Charlatans

In a stunning televised interview, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, launched a scathing attack on the political environment surrounding President Bola Tinubu, alleging he is encircled by destructive elements.

Explosive Allegations Against Wike and the Presidency

Governor Mohammed, appearing on Channels Television on Thursday, January 1, did not mince words. He stated that President Tinubu is surrounded by "hooligans and charlatans" who are bent on destroying him. He specifically singled out the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, labeling him a significant liability.

"The President is surrounded by hooligans and charlatans. Some want me to join the All Progressives Congress, some don't want, like Wike. Wike is a big drag on the administration, and the President should know," Mohammed declared. He further described Wike as an 'undertaker' within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), questioning his loyalty and genuine membership.

Defending His Record and Alleging Victimization

The governor vehemently denied any links to banditry, a serious allegation he claims is being orchestrated against him. He pointed to Bauchi's security record, calling it "the most secure state in the northeast, if not in northern Nigeria," achieved through knowledge and tact.

He directly accused Minister Wike of being behind threats and a smear campaign. "Somebody said he's going to put fire in my state, FCT minister Wike," Mohammed revealed, expressing pain over being accused of terrorism as a leading opposition figure.

"I have written to the Attorney General of the Federation. I've copied all the agencies, and I'm going to escalate it to the international community, asking for protection because this is victimisation, protection of my fundamental human rights," he stated, outlining his plan to seek redress.

A Call for Honesty and Warning Against Impunity

Governor Mohammed concluded with a broader warning to the political class. He urged honesty in assessing the situation, noting that all actions have consequences. "We are the leaders today. But we should not think that we are arrogant and that we can do things with a lot of impunity, and nobody questions it," he cautioned.

This public outburst significantly escalates the ongoing tensions within the PDP and marks a sharp criticism of the inner circle of the Tinubu administration from a sitting opposition governor.
