Christmas Message and Call for Vigilance
In a related development, Governor Makinde extended his festive greetings to Christians in Oyo State and across Nigeria in a Christmas message released on Thursday. The message was disseminated by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
The governor described Christmas as a season that symbolizes love, rooted in the birth of Jesus Christ. He urged citizens to reflect this essence by showing love and living in peace with one another.
Governor Makinde also counseled residents to remain vigilant and observant during the Yuletide celebrations, emphasizing that security is a shared responsibility. He encouraged people to report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies using the active Oyo State Citizen Emergency Number, 615.
"As a government, we have been up to the task in terms of securing the state, but there is still a role for residents to play. This is why we always say that if you see something, say something, and your government will do something," the governor stated.
A Reaffirmation of Support for Workers
The combined actions of increasing gratuity payments, consistently paying the 13th-month salary, and ensuring prompt release of subventions to relevant agencies have been hailed by organized labour. They view these measures as a strong reaffirmation of Governor Makinde's unwavering support for industrial harmony and the financial security of both active and retired workers in Oyo State.
This policy enhancement is expected to provide substantial relief and improved financial stability for numerous retirees and their families across the state.
