Soludo Declares Monday Sit-at-Home Over in Anambra State

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has officially declared the end of the Monday sit-at-home order in Anambra State, marking a significant milestone in the region's security improvements. During his second-term inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, March 17, at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, Soludo emphasized that the state has overcome the debilitating effects of the protest-linked shutdown.

Security Improvements and Economic Revival

Soludo stated that security has significantly improved, allowing schools, markets, businesses, and public servants to resume normal Monday activities. He noted that Anambra is now considered one of the safest states in Nigeria, with residents and visitors able to travel freely on Mondays, a day previously marked by lockdowns.

The governor highlighted key achievements:

  • Dismantling of 62 criminal camps across the state.
  • Liberation of 8 local governments that were under total siege.
  • Implementation of the Homeland Security Law 2025 to reduce criminal activity.

Crackdown on Criminal Elements

Soludo credited the security gains to enforcement efforts under "Oso Soludo," which targeted individuals promoting wealth without work. He reported that hundreds of dangerous native doctors are on the run, and notable figures like Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki have been convicted and jailed, with their shrines destroyed.

Focus on Ethical and Cultural Rebirth

The governor emphasized a broader crusade for ethical and cultural renewal to rescue youth from drugs, cultism, and criminality. He pointed to increased social and economic activity, including a successful Christmas season with over 10,000 daily visitors to Solution City until January 10.

This announcement comes as a relief to residents and businesses, signaling a return to normalcy and enhanced safety in Anambra State.
