Zamfara Boosts Sanitation, Youth Empowerment with 65 Motorcycles, 750 Tools
Zamfara Gives 65 Motorcycles to Sanitation Supervisors

In a significant move to bolster environmental hygiene and support youth livelihoods, the Zamfara State Government has officially handed over sixty-five motorcycles to sanitation supervisors operating in Gusau, the state capital.

Boosting Cleanliness and Efficiency in the Capital

The distribution ceremony, which took place on 7 January 2026, was flagged off by the State's Acting Governor, Malam Mani Malan Mummuni, who represented Governor Dauda Lawal. The Governor explained that providing these motorcycles was a critical step to support the daily duties of the supervisors and enhance the overall cleanliness of Gusau metropolis.

Governor Lawal, speaking through his deputy, stated that the gesture was designed to motivate the beneficiaries and significantly improve their operational efficiency. He urged the supervisors to use the motorcycles diligently for their official sanitation responsibilities.

The Governor issued a clear warning against any misuse or negligence of the government-provided assets, noting that such actions could lead to appropriate sanctions. In a pragmatic move to support the supervisors' income, he clarified that they could use the motorcycles for commercial purposes, such as operating as okada riders, outside of their official sanitation hours.

A Dual Focus on Sanitation and Youth Empowerment

Governor Lawal connected this initiative to his administration's broader agenda. He emphasized that youth empowerment and job creation are central priorities for the Zamfara State Government. He recalled the recent distribution of ten vehicles to youth leaders across the state, positioning the 65 motorcycles as part of the same interventionist strategy.

The Governor assured residents that more programs aimed at supporting the youth would be rolled out in the future. He concluded by urging the beneficiaries to handle the motorcycles with care and dignity.

Senator Bilbis Facilitates Major Vocational Tool Distribution

In a related development during the same event, the Acting Governor also inaugurated the distribution of a large consignment of vocational empowerment tools. This separate initiative was facilitated by Senator Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, the lawmaker representing the Zamfara Central Senatorial District, for the youths in his constituency.

The empowerment package was substantial, comprising a total of seven hundred and fifty items. The distributed tools included:

  • Motorcycles
  • Sewing machines
  • Refrigerators

These items were allocated to both male and female youths across four Local Government Areas: Gusau, Tsafe, Maru, and Bungudu. The primary goal is to equip the beneficiaries with the means to become self-reliant and start sustainable businesses.

The State Government commended Senator Bilbis for this laudable initiative. A call was made to other elected representatives from the state to emulate this example by attracting meaningful development projects and providing quality representation to their constituents.
