Plateau APC Women Protest Governor Mutfwang's Alleged Defection Move
APC Women Reject Mutfwang's Alleged Defection Bid

Hundreds of women from the Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress staged a significant protest on Tuesday against alleged moves by Governor Caleb Mutfwang to defect to their political party.

Mass Protest at Secretariat Bridge Junction

The demonstration took place at the Secretariat Bridge Junction in Jos, where hundreds of APC women members gathered to voice their strong opposition to the governor's potential crossover. The protest occurred on November 26, 2025, drawing substantial attention from residents and passersby.

During the organized protest, the women also used the platform to publicly declare their support for President Bola Tinubu's second term bid, showing solidarity with the current administration at the federal level.

Women Leader Issues Strong Warning

Addressing journalists at the protest venue, Elizabeth Samson Yerse, who leads the APC women's wing in Plateau State and also serves as coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearers, delivered a clear message to party members considering wooing the governor.

"We are here to caution some people within our fold against wooing Mutfwang to defect to the APC," Yerse stated emphatically.

The women leader reminded everyone of the governor's previous statements about the APC, highlighting that Mutfwang had publicly declared he would never join the party and had even described it as "an evil political party."

Clear Stance Against Governor's Defection

Yerse made the women's position unmistakably clear during her address to the media. "Let it be clearly understood. We in the All Progressives Congress, especially the women wing, do not want Governor Caleb Mutfwang to join our party," she asserted.

The protest underscores the growing political tensions in Plateau State and demonstrates the influential role women are playing in shaping the political landscape. The women's decisive action sends a strong message about party loyalty and the importance of standing by their principles.

This development comes at a crucial time in Nigerian politics, with various political realignments taking shape across the country ahead of future electoral contests.
