Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged young Nigerians to embrace integrity, competence, discipline and hard work as essential pillars for achieving sustainable success and driving national development.
Call to Action at Youth Conference
Obi made the call during an interactive session with young entrepreneurs, professionals, business leaders and members of the emerging generation at the This Generation Conference hosted by Summit Bible Church in Abuja.
Drawing from his experiences in business and public service, the former governor stressed that lasting success is not built on shortcuts but on character, diligence and the ability to create value for society.
Economic Transformation Through Youth Leadership
He noted that nations attain prosperity when citizens are productive, innovative and committed to excellence, adding that Nigeria’s economic transformation depends largely on the quality of leadership and enterprise nurtured by the younger generation.
According to him, young people must prioritise education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship and ethical leadership if the country is to overcome its current socio-economic challenges.
Shift from Dependency to Production
Obi also called for a shift from what he described as a culture of dependency to one centred on production, innovation and responsible governance, arguing that sustainable prosperity can only be achieved through wealth creation and value addition.
The former presidential candidate expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, saying he was inspired by the intelligence, creativity and determination displayed by participants at the conference.
He said the engagement reinforced his belief that the nation’s greatest asset remains its people and their capacity to drive meaningful change.
Obi maintained that with purposeful leadership, integrity and hard work, Nigerians can build a more prosperous and inclusive nation.
