Three Lives Lost in Zamfara Over Unpaid Yoghurt

A violent dispute over a carton of yoghurt valued at just three thousand five hundred Naira has led to a tragic loss of life in Zamfara State. On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, armed men stormed a local shop in Danjibga village, located in the Tsafe Local Government Area, triggering events that would end in a deadly shooting spree.

The Dispute That Sparked the Violence

According to a detailed account shared by security analyst Bakatsine on the social media platform X on Thursday, December 4, the incident began when a group of gunmen entered the shop. They attempted to take a carton of Rufaida yoghurt worth ₦3,500 without making any payment. The shop owner stood his ground and insisted on receiving the money for the goods.

This refusal angered the armed men. They abandoned the yoghurt and left the premises, but the confrontation was far from over. Less than one hour later, the same individuals returned to the community. This time, they were heavily armed and immediately resorted to violence.

A Deadly Retaliation and Community Flight

The bandits opened fire indiscriminately, shooting sporadically at people in the area. The attack resulted in the death of three individuals. Panic gripped Danjibga as the sound of gunshots sent residents running for their lives, forcing a mass exodus from the community.

In addition to the killings, the assailants looted the very shop where the initial argument took place. As of the time the initial report was filed, neither the police nor the Zamfara State authorities had issued an official statement concerning the brutal incident.

This attack underscores the fragile state of security in parts of northwestern Nigeria, where disputes over minor items can escalate into fatal confrontations with armed criminal groups.
