Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted Auwal Mas'ud Shitu, a 300-level student of Pure and Industrial Chemistry at Umaru Musa Yar'Adua University in Katsina State. The incident was confirmed on Monday, May 25, 2026, by security expert Bakatsine.

According to reports, Shitu was kidnapped while traveling between Charanchi and Dutsin-Ma on Sunday. The abductors have since contacted the victim's family, demanding a ransom of N20 million, an amount the relatives are reportedly unable to afford.

Friends and family members have raised an alarm, appealing for prayers and urgent intervention as they struggle to secure his release. The university community and local authorities have been notified, and efforts are underway to ensure the safe return of the student.
