Armed bandits have killed 11 residents in a deadly attack on Gurbi Village, located in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. The assailants also left two other people injured during the assault, which occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Details of the Attack
According to the state Police spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the armed bandits launched the attack at approximately 2:40 p.m. The terrorists opened fire on unsuspecting residents, killing the victims on the spot. The attack has heightened tensions in the region, as communities continue to grapple with persistent insecurity.
Security Response
Sadiq-Aliyu stated that a joint security team comprising police, military, and other agencies swiftly responded to the attack. The bandits retreated as security forces closed in on the scene. The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment, while the deceased were buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The police command has reinforced security in the area, deploying additional tactical teams to prevent further incidents.
