Bandits have killed two young men identified as Sidiq Musa and Bashir Bisalla in Wawa village, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State. The victims, who were loggers, were fatally shot around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, while logging in the bush.

Details of the Attack

According to a resident named Nurudeen, the loggers encountered bandits who ambushed them and opened fire on their vehicle. “The one in the back was shot in the back and fell down. The other two in the front. They fired at them until the entire magazine was empty. The two men died instantly,” Nurudeen narrated. A third man, Mukhtar Zakari, sustained a gunshot wound and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

Reprisal Attacks

Following the incident, some youths in the village carried out reprisal attacks. They set houses belonging to Fulani people on fire, beat them, and confiscated and burned their motorcycles. “All Fulani houses in Wawa were set on fire. I saw two motorcycles that were burnt to ashes,” Nurudeen added.
