Katsina Governor Radda Convenes Emergency Security Meeting Following Attacks

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has urgently convened an emergency security council meeting at the Government House in response to escalating security challenges in the state. The meeting, which is currently ongoing, brings together a comprehensive array of top security officials and stakeholders to address the mounting threats.

High-Level Attendance and Coordination Efforts

Additionally, officials from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) are in attendance.

Local council chairmen from affected areas are participating, along with the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other senior government officials. Background of Recent Attacks

This emergency response follows reports of coordinated bandit attacks on two communities in Matazu Local Council of Katsina State. According to sources, bandits killed a police officer and injured two civilians during these assaults. The injured individuals were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, highlighting the immediate impact of the violence on local residents.

Government Dismisses Misleading Claims

In a related development, the Katsina State Government has firmly dismissed claims circulating in an online video that Governor Radda criticized President Bola Tinubu. In a statement issued by M.S. Ingawa, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media & Strategy, the government described these reports as false and misleading.

Ingawa clarified that the governor's remarks on accountability were intended as general democratic guidance for state officials and citizens, and were not directed at the President. He reaffirmed Radda's unwavering support for President Tinubu, noting that the governor has consistently demonstrated this backing, including before the 2023 elections and during the February 2026 Katsina gathering where APC leaders endorsed the President's re-election.

The emergency security meeting underscores the state's commitment to addressing security concerns and fostering stability, while the government's response to the misleading video aims to maintain political harmony and focus on pressing security issues.
