Kogi Govt Mourns Iluke Attack Victims, Vows to Combat Banditry

The Kogi State Government has expressed profound sorrow over the terrorist attack on Iluke Community in Bunu District of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area. Criminals disguised in military uniforms attempted to deceive residents and carry out their heinous act, resulting in the deaths of three community members.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner of Information, Kingsley Fanwo, the government extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the people of Iluke Community, and the entire Bunu District. The government commended the swift response and exceptional bravery of military personnel and local security forces, whose intervention prevented a mass abduction of students and further casualties.

Details of the Attack

Reports indicate that the bandits disrupted an ongoing WAEC examination and began marching students into the bush. Security operatives engaged them in a fierce gun battle, successfully rescuing all students unharmed. During the operation, one bandit was neutralized, while several others escaped with severe gunshot injuries.

The state government confirmed that security agencies are actively pursuing the fleeing criminals and intensifying efforts to ensure all those connected with the attack are apprehended and brought to justice.
