On Tuesday, the governor visited the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) to meet with six soldiers wounded in the early Monday attack, which also claimed the lives of three soldiers and one vigilante member.

Financial Support Announced for Fallen and Injured Personnel

During his visit to the Intensive Care Unit, Governor AbdulRazaq announced substantial financial aid to support the affected military personnel and their families. He pledged N20 million to the family of each soldier killed in the clash and an additional N5 million for each of the six wounded soldiers currently recuperating. The governor described the sacrifices made by the troops as priceless and commended the medical team at KWASUTH for their professionalism and the high quality of care and facilities provided.

Details of the Fierce Clash in Kemanji

The attack, which occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, was reportedly preceded by a threat letter sent to the community, warning of an impending assault without specifying a date. Armed bandits carried out their threat, engaging security operatives—including Nigerian Army personnel and local vigilante groups—in a fierce gun duel that lasted approximately two hours. During the exchange of fire, three soldiers and one vigilante member were killed, and several terrorists were also reported dead.

In the aftermath, the bandits fled the scene, allegedly taking military patrol vehicles and motorcycles with them. The incident has caused significant distress among villagers, with many starting to leave the community due to fear. Aggrieved youths in the area have called for a temporary halt to political activities, declaring this a period of collective grief.
