The Katsina State Police Command has successfully rescued a young woman from an attempted kidnapping by suspected bandits in Kukoki community, located in Danmusa Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday, May 14, by the command's spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.
According to Aliyu, police operatives in Danmusa received a distress report that armed men, believed to be bandits, had invaded Kukoki community and attempted to abduct the victim.
In response, the command deployed a special patrol team to the area, which led to a fierce gun battle between the security operatives and the suspects.
“The officers trailed the suspects and engaged them in a fierce exchange of gunfire, forcing the bandits to abandon the victim and flee with gunshot wounds,” the statement said.
The police spokesperson added that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The successful rescue highlights the commitment of the Katsina State Police Command to ensuring the safety of residents and combating banditry in the region.
