Pregnant Woman, Nine Others Killed in Katsina Attack

A pregnant woman and nine other individuals have been killed by suspected bandits who attacked the grain market in Guga village, Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, on Sunday, May 17. According to reports, the assailants stormed the community in broad daylight and opened fire indiscriminately on traders and residents. They operated unhindered for several hours, causing panic and chaos.

Mass Funeral Held for Victims

Residents confirmed that the victims were buried on Monday morning, May 18, in Guga village following a mass funeral held in the Gidan Sarkin Noma and Gidan Wawo communities, both located within Bakori LGA. Many of the deceased were farmers from neighboring areas who had traveled to the market to sell their produce.

Police Yet to Comment

The state police command has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident. Local authorities are under pressure to address the rising insecurity in the region.
