Retired Major General Abubakar Rabe, who was abducted two weeks ago in Katsina State, has reportedly died. The retired general was kidnapped along with his wife around the Matazu area of Katsina while they were on their way to a wedding.
Demands Made by Kidnappers
General Rabe was seen in a video where his abductors demanded the release of some bandits and seized livestock. In the four-minute, two-second video that recently trended on social media, the couple were seen standing while listing the demands of their abductors. His wife was seen reading out the demands, which included the release of three members known as Aminu, Nasiru, and Sani.
Circumstances of Death
Details surrounding the death of the retired military general remain unclear, but sources confirm that he died while in the custody of the kidnappers. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for intensified efforts to rescue other victims and combat banditry in the region.
The Nigerian Army and Defence Headquarters have not yet issued an official statement regarding the death. Security forces continue operations to secure the release of other hostages and apprehend the perpetrators.
