Governor Aliyu Reports Progress in Sokoto's Fight Against Banditry
Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has declared that his administration is gradually achieving success in the battle against banditry and other criminal activities within the state. He made this announcement on Thursday afternoon while inaugurating the State Executive Council meeting at the Council Chamber.
Collaborative Efforts Yield Results
The governor emphasized that the state government, working closely with security agencies, is making steady progress in sustained efforts to combat banditry, which currently affects 13 local councils in Sokoto State. In a statement released on Friday by Abubakar Bawa, the Director General of Media and Publicity at the Government House, Sokoto, Governor Aliyu was quoted as saying, "I am happy to inform you that our renewed commitment to ensuring a secure Sokoto State is yielding tremendous success. We will not relent in this effort until all displaced communities return to their ancestral homes."
Support for Security Agencies and Community Involvement
Aliyu assured security agencies of his administration's continued support to help them effectively carry out their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property. He called on the people of Sokoto State to continue supporting the government and security forces by providing useful information that could help expose criminal elements. The governor specifically urged residents, especially those in rural communities, to identify and expose informants within their areas, describing them as enemies of peace who must be dealt with according to the law.
