One person has been killed in an attack by suspected armed herders in Udei community, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident occurred on May 15, 2026, prompting a swift response from security forces.

Security Response

Troops of Sector 1 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), working alongside the Nigeria Police Force, were deployed to the scene at approximately 9:00 a.m. following reports of an attack on residents. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the troops were mobilized from Yelwata after receiving distress calls about armed assailants believed to be herders.

Upon arrival, security personnel discovered that one local resident had been killed during the assault. The victim's body was subsequently handed over to the family for burial.
